Jasper (Taryn Young, Anita Young, Kyle Goeppner)

November 10th-12th

Aspen, Hazel and I were able to visit my old friend, Taryn Young, her fiancé, Kyle and her momma Anita. We know each other from high school and college. We also lived together for about a year after I graduated from Ball State. I'm excited that I will be in Taryn's wedding this upcoming April. After Taryn graduated from nursing school she moved to Jasper, Indiana. She and her fiancé bought a house and are starting life there. They are doing a great job of renovating and making it their own.

While we were visiting I was able to help Taryn with decorating some of the Mason jars that will be used as some of the centerpieces for her wedding. Its been a while since I used a hot glue gun. A nice slow burn occurs when you are applying lace to jars.

We were able for me to get sized for my bridesmaid dress while I was there with her. We also went to several other shops as the kids would allow. We bought the kids' Elf on a Shelf from the Hallmark store in her town so that is how the Elf is now going to be named Jasper. :) I think this fits perfect both because of the city and because Jasper is also a tree and Ashley, Aspen, and Hazel are all names derived from tress!

We went to the Schnitzelbank, a German restaurant.

Me and Anita! She's such a sweetheart.

The Happy Couple plus Aspen!

Taryn's mom Anita was able to meet us for dinner and Kyle took a break from duck hunting to also eat with us. I had some home made pot pie there and it was soo delicious! Hazel liked it too!
Hazel also enjoyed the turtle stew that Taryn had made we put her on the floor with a bowl and she was a MESS! It was so cute though.

The girls and I had fun visiting with her and seeing her new home. Im looking forward to her BIG day. I know it will be just as beautiful as she is. :)

Children's Museum (Rachel Wooten)

On November 11th, the girls and I were able to meet up with Rachel Wooten and her baby girl, Stella, for a trip to the Children's Museum. This was Rachel's first time going to the museum in many many years. So it was the first time since she was able to take her baby to the new Playscape. Here they are with both my kiddos in the baby pit.

Rachel and I became Facebook friends when she was the Maid of Honor and Luke was the Best Man in their mutual best friends wedding over this past summer. She has been friends with the bride since Jr High and Luke has been friends with the groom since Jr High as well. We started talking since we are both mommies of baby girls and because we have mutual friends.

We had a fun time there. I think Rachel's favorite part was the dinosaurs! We were able to get to know each other a little better and have some adult conversations and I hope that we can get together again either at the museum or for a moms night out!
While we were there they were cleaning the sculpture. I found this amazing since I kind of wondered how the heck they accomplished this!?! This seriously needs to be on a Swiffer commercial or something! This guy gets on this pulley system and has a Swiffer pad attached to this pole and goes over each of the glass things. INCREDIBLE. You know you are a clean freak of a stay at home mom when you go to the best children's museum in the country and you want to watch the people clean a sculpture! Wowza.

BUT...Anyways... I had a great time getting to know you Rachel and any time that you would like to hang out and do "old lady" things just call me up. :)

Welcome Home Meals (Kim Byerley, Alyson Geyer, Megan Cordova)

November 4th and 5th,

Three of my Facebook friends had babies in the same week. I had the pleasure of welcoming home these three precious little ones and taking their parents a home made meal.

Kim Byerley

I met Kim in High School. She was two years behind me but we still sat at the same lunch table. The best thing I remember about Kim is that we have the same birthday! Aspen and I also were invited to her daughter Megan's 3rd birthday party this past summer. Aspen had a blast in the bounce house and in the little baby pool.

Here I am with Kim's precious baby, McKayla Alexis born 10-25.

Alyson Geyer

The same evening I took a meal to Alyson and her hubby. I have known Alyson since the fourth or fifth grade and we had classes on and off together from 1994-2003. I don't remember having many classes together though because she is a super smarty so I didn't get put in same classes as she did haha.  She also gave birth to her second little girl Kennedy Drew on 10-28. Here is their pic.

That very night after delivering these two their batches of chili I got on Facebook and low and behold Megan Cordova had her baby! This is also the second baby girl for Megan and her husband.  These ladies have been busy!

I met Megan at Outlook Christian Church. She and her family go there. She and I have talked to each other a lot about breastfeeding, adoptions and the birthing process. If anyone were listening in on one of our conversations they would probably think it was some kind of a Discovery Channel special. Here is Ms. Megan and her little beauty Shaylee Jean born on 11-3.

Me and Mike

HAHA. So this was a fun night.
Mike Swinson is actually the owner of American Carpet Cleaners. I have been a faithful customer for 4 years.  If you are in the Indy area and need a carpet cleaning this is the man to call. Check out www.americancarpets.net for more info. (and no he isn't paying me to say that lol)  He will make your mess look brand new!  He also used to work with Laura Mott when she worked for the airlines so this is how I was introduced. I have spoke with him several times on the phone and we are of course Facebook buddies but I haven't ever met him in person. How exciting is it that he throws a themed party at the Murat each year to celebrate his birth? Sounds like the perfect time to me for a good ol fashioned meet and greet.  This years theme for his party was hillbilly/white trash. Lord knows those costumes aren't hard to come by huh. HAHAHA. I had a blast looking for outfits with Beth Jarrett. It was even more fun trying them all on.

I also met Miss Whitney at this party. We became Facebook friends because she knows Laura as well they both went to ISU together. When I became pregnant with Aspen, Whitney was also pregnant with her little girl Addy. We went through very different pregnancies and ended up having our daughters  2 days apart. It seems like I have known Whitney for years even though I really just met her on November 2nd. She and Laura both had a sleepover at my house and then we all went to church the next morning. She is such a sweetheart. I hope we can get our girls together for a playdate soon.

Check out the Jarrett/Lomax dance moves!

Family Pics (Amber Patterson)

10-31

On Halloween morning the four of us Lomax's had our living room transformed into a photo studio! Our pictures were taken by Amber Patterson.

I met Amber because she posted an ad on one of the online Facebook groups looking for a newborn girl to take pictures of because she had some new props she wanted to try out. I was due to have Hazel in the next upcoming weeks. So I made arrangements for her to come to the home.  She came and took her newborn pics and then came back again when she was 4 months and took pics of both the girls.

This time pics were taken to celebrate Aspen turning 3 and Hazel being almost 8 months and then a couple of family shots of the four of us since we didn't have any current family pictures.

I really like using Amber for taking pics because she brings all of her own lighting and backdrops. She also has cute outfits for the kids as well as props. She also come to our home for an extra charge but its great to have my living room turned into a photo studio every few months. Amber is also very patient with my kids. I think that because she comes to the house the kids are more relaxed. I also don't have to worry about what they are wearing until she gets here and we can work together on finding things that work with her props.

She has a variety of backdrops and props and brings new things each time that she has come. She is also very affordable. This perk I love love love!

Amber gives me a disc so I am able to print whatever I want. She also posts a blog highlighting her work at http://amberportraits.blogspot.com.

If you would like to contact her for your next picture session her number is 615-9956 or her email is portrait_by_amber@yahoo.com
